Freestyle comp costume for sale or ideas to make one?

Post by Jeanie »

Following on from "dancing is so expensive". Anyone have a freestyle costume for sale or ideas for something cheap? My dd is 8 and has a comp end of April. She's part of the troupe - which there are high hopes for, and, as one of the younger ones, has been encouraged to have a go at a solo and duet. I don't want to invest too much in the outfit as I feel her natural style is Street but I want her to have fun and enjoy the comp without feeling underdressed in leggings and a cropped top.

Any ideas?

Thanks

She is going in as a beginner?
If so , you can use simple Lycra dancewear? Foxy dancewear do lots of colours including off the peg, and if pairs, only a top needs to match.... Some beginners just wear leotards...
Nothing cheap on ebay?

Good luck to her, if she loves it, oh dear the money !! #-o

Ive got various colours of tops and leggings for beginners to wear Jeanie.
I'll sort them out tonight and let you know what size I think I have for an Under 10.
I think I have a nice pink crop top and blue leggings ? Think theres also a scrunchie to match !
If you want to message me her measurements / height etc and I'll see what I can find xx

Thanks ladies. How wonderfully helpful!

IDTA seem to go for the whole works and there's no beginner's category (which is a pity). I'll PM DanceDiva to find out what she has for DD's size and then I'll ask for creative ideas.

A quick update! My oldest DD who is 8 danced throught 4 rounds to win the Bronze under 11s category and my youngest (who is only 4) danced through 3 rounds and came second in the 3-5 rosettes. Older DD and her friend also won under 8s duo (dancing 3 rounds). I'm so proud of them. They were brilliant. In the end went for a simple black and gold so you don't need the fullworks to win!

So we're now heading to Blackpool for the Nationals!
