Megmar - we've already had and paid for Laine uniform list it had to be back by tomorrow - £££ - I'm hoping most things are now covered for the next 3 years!! There was a lot on it that wasn't clothing/shoes - it included deposits for exams/theatre trips/headshots/3 x christmas parties etc!! Dd is very excited too - has joined a facebook group of students starting with her which has been nice, I think your dd like mine is only 16 - the eldest in her year group is 22 so quite a wide range! It'll come round quite quickly I think - also have ds off to Uni in Sept so will be a big change for us all

Does anyone know how many dada's were given out ot Laines, Performers and Itaila please
Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result
dance 1998 - think you would need to contact the colleges directly to find out the exact number, a friend of my dd got a Dada from Laine only last week - I think she was 7th or 9th on the list, so its still not over for anyone still waiting Colleges no longer have a set number of Dada's to allocate but a pot of money to split between selected students and then means tested. x

Hi,
Is she applying for Diploma or Degree courses?
My daughter was home educated and didn't take any GCSEs...
I emailed all the schools she was interested in and most replied that they didn't have any academic entry requirements it was purely based on audition. So she auditioned at age 16 and was offered places at Urdang, Laine and Performers on the Diploma without any GCSEs. She decided not to go at 16 but instead auditioned again at 18 for degrees. She still hasn't taken GCSE English but has done a Level 2 Functional Skills English qualification alongside her Level 3 BTEC and was offered places on 3 degree courses (Urdang, Bird and Trinity Laban) so they seem to have accepted the Level 2 English in lieu of GCSE. She is starting the degree at Urdang in a couple of weeks.
Things may change now that the compulsory 'school' age has risen and there is a requirement to keep taking English (and Maths I think) until age 18 if they haven't got a C grade. I guess the stage schools will have to offer English/Maths classes to meet this new requirement but I'd be surprised if they make GCSEs a compulsory entry requirement for the Diploma. Degrees usually have English GCSE as an entry requirement because there is an element of academic work. Most of the schools will be happy to tell her if she asks them
Hope this helps x
