Does anyone have any experience with the musical theatre course at Motherwell college ? They offered Dd an unconditional on the spot and she loved it. From what I can see they have a bit more success than a stereotypical ‘uni musical theatre degree’ as they currently have several students in the west end. Dd also likes how they are encouraged each year to audition out to London colleges and seem to get lots of help with this. They also get to take part in a 32 night professional panto as the ensemble which would obviously be a wonderful experience. It’s this or the foundation at mountview for MT which is just too expensive for us and we see this as possibly a good alternative?. She also auditioned for other local college MT courses and say that Motherwell is much much better and more professional as everyone seemed clued up whereas at another audition she felt the singing teacher was bad at singing and she was the only one wearing dance clothes for the dance audition everyone else was in jeans etc !
Has anyone had any experience with Motherwell college ? Would you advise going for it or take a year out - both options resulting in auditioning for London next year

Is this for the BA? I think it looks good especially the voice training. I would say it is a good and cheaper alternative to a foundation and as you say you could always go for auditions too but if the training is good stay and finish the BA - then even apply for an MA at a London college for CV if necessary. If you are in Scotland, it also makes the logistics better for the family too for time off and visits. See if you can see an end of term performance and talk to students.

There are some fantastic teachers at Motherwell. We've come across some of the singing teachers from there on other courses and the calibre is second to none. I do not know anything about the standard of dance there.
