BUYER BEWARE - Financial Stability of Schools

Post by islandofsodor »

Just a reminder as we will be heading into a new applications year soon to not only investigate the teaching and graduate prospects of schools but also their financial stability.

A 6th Form with a vocational dance and musical theatre strand that dd was offered a scholarship at last year for A levels and Btec musical theatre will sadly by all accounts be closing atthe end of this term leaving current students who are half way through their courses high and dry and facing repeating a year if they cannot find other schools or colleges teaching the same syllabi.

I emphasise we LOVED this school, the teachers, the ethos and also had personal experience of people we know having atttended in years past. The dance training offered was exceptional.

In recent years there have been several performing arts schools and private schools close suddenly leaving their students out of pocket and scrambling for other places.

No checks are foolproof, but there is often certain infomation available via companies house or the charity commission so please, do your research as best you can.
