monologues

Post by katylouw »

Hi everyone

I'm new here and have spent many hours looking at all the posts on here. Very useful they are too, so thanks to everyone for their contributions.

My question is regarding monologues, my DD is 8yrs and needs to do a monologue to camera, she's done something before, but I just wondered if anyone had a link to a good resource for these so we can pick something. Do you think it's ok to go off piste and select something from a book. Any tips or guidance for these would be gratefully received. I hope i've posted in the right place :D

Many thanks

I think it's absolutely fine to select something from a book, providing it's dialogue and not description.

You can often cut and paste bits together and it doesn't have to be long.

Choose something that's as close to her age and type as you can . The ideal piece is something you can honestly imagine her being cast as without having to "stretch". Something that really is "her".
