Apparently only Stagecoach pupils will get the chance to audition for Young Fiona at each venue. Doesn't seem very fair to me....
Re: shrek tour
How do you know this, roxiehart?
Re: shrek tour
Rumour.....friend of a friend.....
Don't know precise details so thought I would post on here to see if anyone else knows more!

Re: shrek tour
I haven't heard anything but I find it hard to believe that they would only see kids from one school.

Re: shrek tour
My Son has just enjoyed a wonderful 3 day Musical Theatre course in Marlow Bucks this week arranged by Jo Hawes.
After the 3 days and an amazing Musical Theatre performance Jo along with her team took a Q& A that we found very useful.
She confirmed that only Stagecoach pupils will get the chance to audition for Young Fiona at each venue.
The original child actress that played Young Fiona in the West End was also a child on the course & was at the session.
Jo said she is therefore nothing to do with the casting of it sadly as she loved the show.
She is having another 3 day course in May half term and will post details the details on her web site.
Hope this helps.

Re: shrek tour
Seems a very strange and somewhat limiting decision.... foolish maybe, given that Stagecoach's vary from venue to venue. I know a DD's friend goes to our local one, and it's very much a daycare rather than a worthwhile training venue. That's not to say there aren't great singers there - I'm sure there are - and they can be trained professionally during the rehearsal process, but why not cast it the regular way?

I totally agree, how bizarre!eleanorrigby66 wrote:Seems a very strange and somewhat limiting decision.... foolish maybe, given that Stagecoach's vary from venue to venue. My guess is there is a financial connection going on here..and a "it's not what you know but who you know" job
I won't be buying a ticket

Re: shrek tour
Tom it's a tour
Therefore it will be children local to where ever it's pitching up ... In
My eyes this is even more disappointing for children nationally as not only are they excluded from the London production for living too far away - they are now excluded for attending the wrong performing arts schools and classes!
I would say that is a double injustice wouldn't you ?

Re: shrek tour
You can source locally without being biased towards one performing arts company
They managed with Pricilla, Oliver, and numerous other productions.
I don't even have a daughter but if I did and I lived in another area and my daughter's only shot at great little part was denied even to audition, I would be very disappointed indeed.
But then Stagecoach are "The original and best " - oh hang on they had to drop that spurrilous claim after being rapped on the knuckles didn't they
I think it's an absolute shame for those excluded.
