Hi guys,

We just had a spotlight submissions list through for my DD from her agent that cover March to current date.

Was wondering on average how many submissions to your children’s agents put them forward for?

Thank you!

Firstly, many agents don't send lists through, so that is a good start :) But also it is impossible to give a number, it just depends on what productions are going on. Sometimes it seems every casting requires a 10 year old boy and you can't keep up with the self-tapes and other times months go by with nothing. A good agent will put your DC up for everything they are suitable for, don't forget it is in their interest to place their clients, they get paid for it!!

Hi.. we are very new to this and not sure if my expectations are realistic! I mentioned to agent it was quiet and is this normal - and she said yes and sent me a list of submissions - there was 8 in a 3 week period ... but like other reply said it’s totally in their interest to get your child too castings! And our agency is very good and responsive to any queries ..
We’re disapointed as only one self tape requested so far so am now thinking are her photos not the best etc? Other than that not sure what we can do!? Been with them on spotlight for about 4-5 weeks - so I think perhaps me and dd being impatient?!

Hi Imistar, 8 submissions in 3 weeks is good and yes I am really sorry to say that you cannot judge on 4-5 weeks and the fact that they are being cooperative and showing you the submissions means you have a decent agent. Speak to them and ask about the photos, but also don't forget casting agents have a picture in their mind of what they are looking for and it is often the case that your DC might have the right attributes (age, height etc) but just not the look they want. I think my DH once said that he used to bank on getting 1 audition out of every 10 submissions on average.

I personally would rather not know what we’ve submitted for as it can be rather depressing knowing you’ve been submitted but not called in. I trust my DC’s agents are submitting them for everything suitable. Occasionally I will ask if we’ve been submitted for something I’ve heard about but usually I just try to forget about it...It is frustrating waiting for castings but as other people have said it is down to what the CD’s briefs are. They tend to be like buses... we have nothing for a week or so and then it’s manic! Good luck to your dd x

Thanks ladies, that’s exactly as I thought! The agent was great and sent the submissions to explain it to me - I had let her know we were very new to this and with no knowledge at all of this ‘world’! I know you mean about maybe it’s better not knowing - as why wouldn’t Tesco want to see my daughter :D lol! - last time I buy my shopping there!!!!! Lol!

Bethjaneg am exactly like you, I have 100% faith in my agent and never ask to see submissions as I prefer to just get a nice surprise :) Every so often I will ask about something too if I have heard about it and every single time without fail, the submission has already been done! And as you say Imistar, if I knew everyone that had rejected my DS I would have nowhere to shop and would have to give up watching TV!!

Yep - I didn’t ask this time but I think she sent to reassure me! As I also can’t ever buy the kids fruitellas sweets now either
Fingers crossed for some castings soon then :o
