Hello!!
I am wondering if anyone knows of any young(ish) female monologues set in the late 1700s to early 1800s? Possibly something from Jane Austen but less well known would be preferable. It doesn't need to be at all long, maybe a minute? Comedic or lighthearted would be best I think.
Thankyou very much in advance

I'd recommend choosing a novel you like from the period and adapting your own.
Some novels do have stage adaptations (eg Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility ) .

Yes, I have been looking through the books I already have, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a piece that wasn't quite so well known. There are a couple from Pride and Prejudice I could use but I'm slightly wary of it seeming dull because it is such a popular choice

What is it for?

It's for a short film. They have asked for a short monologue to camera. I want to do something as close as possible to the era but I think that most people will automatically turn to Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility etc. I would like to do something fun and feisty that isn't Elizabeth Bennet! Perhaps there is a good one from a film or TV series that would suit? I will continue my hunt...

Northanger Abbey is less well known but quite good fun. There was a to adaptation a couple of years ago but it is far less well known than the other Austen standards.

Becky is a great suggestion!
Emma is worth a look too.
Some of the Regency based Georgette Heyer novels also worth a look. Venetia might be one to try? or The Grand Sophie, or Frederica . You could always cut and paste bits together
