Acting Coach Needed in Cental London - Help with Self Tapes

My ds is desperate to find a London based Acting Coach, someone who knows all about self tapes. Although he has competed his BA Acting at an excellent drama school, he has gotten lots of negative feedback on his self tapes. His confidence is rock bottom and I think he needs someone who can give him a huge boost and really pinpoint the problems with his work in front of the camera.

Any ideas? A current Casting Director who also coaches young actors would be great as well.

Thanks everyone! This forum has saved our bacon on numerous occasions and I am sure this will be one more of those.

I know your ds has completed a course but there are specialised courses. I know that often third year students and graduates are happy to support at a fraction of the cost of other coaches . Have you thought about contacting a few places and asking if this is something their students/ ex students could help with ??!

Kerrie Mailey might do this. Here's a link to a thread from here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21352&p=232267&hil ... ey#p232267

Also, I'm a little surprised and worried to hear your son is struggling with this after having done a 3-year acting course - I'm new to all this, and my DS is only in Y10 so it's a few years off, but I'd have thought this sort of thing would be covered. Do you mind if I ask where he did his BA?

Can I ask is it the quality of the self tapes or his delivery they were negative about the first is easily solved as there are lots of studios in London that offer this service for a fee the other is to find a course that deals with screen acting in front of cameras there are lots around Google acting workshops tv/film

I'd be happy to offer advice via skype if that would be useful.

Where is he getting the negative feedback from? I'm a bit surprised that he's getting feedback from audition self-tapes - usually there's just no response. If he's taking a lack of success/recalls/jobs as negative feedback then he may be doing himself a complete injustice.

If he'd like to send me a link to a few self tapes then I would be very happy to give an opinion and maybe a few pointers? I think it's actually relatively easy to do this over the internet - although I can understand if he would prefer to go a coach in person.

I could also ask Son of PG if he has any spare time - though he might well say that he doesn't have enough on screen experience to be helpful. He does have experience as a teacher and director though.

Let me know.
No charge for some emails/links etc to and fro to see whether it's useful - if it turns out to be something he'd like to continue with, we could come to an arrangement. :)

I have experience as an adjudicator and director and watch LOTS of showreels. I wouldn't ever try to "sell" myself as a hugely experienced screen actor (though I have done film and TV) but I might still be able to offer some views/opinions for him to consider and it's something I'm very interested in.
