Agency

Post by looby82 »

Hi,

My daughter was accepted onto Mark Jermin's books a few months back but since joining we have heard nothing from them. Is this normal and just a case of wait for the right opportunity or should we be looking elsewhere? If we should be looking to move can anyone recommend anywhere, we are based in Yorkshire.

Thanks in advance

Hi! Mark Jermin is a very very large agency, with lots and lots of children. They are very successful, but we know people who do amazing with them, and also lots of people who get lost under the radar and don't get any auditions at all. They also have the theatre school that they recruit from. Sometimes with large agencies like this it is a case of keeping your face in their minds, maybe get in touch with the agency and ask where they feel your daughter sits with them and if there is anything you could be doing to get her seen a bit more?

How old is your DD? There are lots of agencies out there but here are some that specialise in children and are successful. Check out the Agencies section as well to see lots more people talking about successful agencies.

A&J Management
Scream Management
Robert Kelly Associates
Hero Talent Group

Good luck xx

My child has been with two very big agency's one in Manchester and one in London, both well known. I pulled him out of both of them as they were too big, he hardly had auditions, London agency quite rude, very impersonal and I felt we were selling his soul to the devil. After the London Agency I realised that if my child was to do well we needed something much smaller and we found it. He is now with Amber in Manchester which is delightful, they are so kind to us, understanding and take such an interest in my child. They have adults and children but very few children which I prefer as they get to know my child properly.
Everyone has there own thoughts but mine is definatly smaller. Look to see how many children they have on their books, what is the criteria on accepting children. I liked the fact that Amber took my child on their books because of what he has done on TV rather than what he looks like as that is what quite a lot of Agencies do. It took me a while to find the right place for my child and I really thought of taking my child away from it all as I got so irritated by it all but my child is happy and has had lots of audtions and self tapes. Go smaller. xx

Thanks for this - I agree that small might be the way to go. Unfortunately, my daughter hasn't worked professionally so it seems Amber might not consider her. Is it worth approaching them anyway do you think?

Hi, I am not sure to be honest. I know a fabulous agency called Purple Giraffe, they are small and the two girls who run it are the nicest people about who would give you the most fantastic advice. Give them a shout. x
