Personal Statements

Post by lyndahill »

Hi all. My DD will be starting the rollercoaster ride of applyng and hopefully auditioning at colleges such as Bird for 2018 entry. As we haven't yet done this I am asking if anybody can help with how to start a Personal Statement to accompany the applications. The inner content won't be a problem, we just don't know how to start it of - and how long should it be, an A4 page, 2 sides. My DD can waffle a little but her writing content is very good :D Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello. I think that thinking about it is the most difficult bit, once you start putting it down on paper it's not too painful. My DD started hers saying 'auditioning at xxxxx is something I've been working towards for xx years' Her's was about 20 lines long, we could have put more but we didn't want to bore them!! I think you need to include what you can offer them and what makes you stand out, as well as your skills. Good luck!!
