Uni Drama or Practical Drama

Hi, dd has just done AS levels, but didn't get very good grades. She is interested in drama and film. Looks like she could spend this year doing A levels but not get an offer. She is split between the idea of going to study Drama as an academic subject or as a practical subject. She does not really settle down very well to academic work, although she is quite clever. If she does not get an offer this year maybe she should do a BTEC. Anybody been in this situation before and got any advice? I am wondering about BTEC or the London Film school. What qualifications do you need for a BTEC? Is there any access course that helps you get into University to study Drama and Screen Studies without A levels if you are not a mature student?

Firstly lots of students do not do well at AS levels, but improve with re-sits, so all is not lost if she wants to carry on. She should look at entrance requirements for drama/film courses in universities she is ineterested in. However, BTECs are accepted by most universities for most courses, and are particularly useful for students who enjoy practical rather than academic work. Howver, she needs to note that all uni courses will have apractical element, some more than others - again, research here is the key. I think there are some Foundation Courses around, there certainly are in some drama schools, they are worth considering, but not sure of entrance requirements.
