I don't know the full story, but a couple of girls from ds anfd dd's dance school got through the first stage last year doing some modern ballet and were then given a hard time about the "contemporary" choreography they were supposedly doing. I know they were deeply cynical about it all afterwards -thinking they had just been put through the first round to be set up for the TV editing to say something completely erroneous
