Signing with mulitple agencies
We're fairly new to this industry. My DD has started with a lovely small agency about 6 months ago. We really like the agents/owners but she's only been sent on a few auditions. She's done well but hasn't secured any parts. Having done well, she's now got the acting/singing bug and can't wait for more opportunities!! I have heard that it's not unusual for a child to be signed with multiple agents. I would love to know your thoughts and experience. I've seen opportunities to audition for other agencies but I'm concerned signing with an additional agency might damage the relationship we have with our current agents. Do you think my concern is valid? Thanks!

Re: Signing with mulitple agencies
does your current agent have a sole representation clause?
there are some agencies who will agree to representation by one for modelling for example and one for acting. Most are sole rep though,
TBH a few castings in 6 months sounds good, she may have been submitted for more , but not be right for the CD's to request a meet/casting. Many children don't get a casting for months on end, it depends on the look, height, experience, skills etc etc etc, sometimes there appears no rhyme or reason to it
I have found from mine and friend's experience quite often the smaller agents work harder for you and submit less children giving you a better chance out standing out form the crowd.
There will always be very successful children for a variety of reasons, and some may not even be as talented as your own DC, but they just look "right", it's a hard knock life and I speak from experience. My DS has been submitted for 12 jobs in the last month alone and not one casting has arisen from that. clearly they don't like his "look" Yet the jobs he has had keep him going and he continues to work hard to gain more skills....
If you have a good relationship with your agent I would have a chat about your concerns, my bet is they are working really hard and submitting her for loads, but they can't force the CD's hand.
You need to go with your gut feeling on this one
good luck

Thanks Riverdance for the information and your advice. I really do like our agents and think we'll sit tight for a while and see how things go. In the meantime.. a nice opportunity for a local production just came up. Fingers crossed...my dd could get a part and it would make her sooo happy!
She just can't wait to perform, act and sing:) And of course, I want to do all I can to help her with that goal.
