is a better link - i ended up reading a (very interesting, so i'm not complaining :o ) article about a gypsy wedding!!

ds has done his stint in jh territory - his voice is well-broken now (she didn't mention the equivalent 'farewell' for girls is the speed bumps!!!) and we have met the odd mfh - jh has my sympathy

What an easy group to target, make fun of and perpetuate the myth that parents of kids in the performing industry are somehow worlds apart from the rest of society.

I have to say, condescension at the expense of mostly well-meaning parents is unbecoming of someone who makes their living letting the people she is potentially having a pop at spend their time queuing and waiting [-X [-X And if it IS only the odd parent, as she specifies, then is it worthy of a whole article?!

It may be directed at 1 parent in a hundred who behaves like this, but people within the industry should know that we (as parents of performing children) are already tarred with the "pushy" brush, without articles from those in the know perpetuating the stereotype.

And by definition, the irony in the "ironically named "notapushymum.com"" must be that we actually all are???

As a veteran of many many auditions including musical theatre auditions, I do have to say as a quiet on-looker and people watcher, I see very few parents like that, the majority are quiet, respectful and only there supporting and taxi-ing children.... I guess I don't see it from her poInt of view, or have the same contact with parents as she does. I think Mums of performing kids are an easy target, just as our children are very often the butt of cheap jokes or even bullying from their peers.

Hmmmm, if it is her honest opinion to say that this website is "ironically named" then I take exception to her "honesty".

Also, as I understand it, Jo uses this website to promote her "workshops", which presumably are run as a profit-making venture. Surely biting the hand that feeds in this way is not the best marketing tool?

:?
There are VERY few parents that are MFH in the performing world, there is far more eyebrow raising behaviour on the sidelines of a football match with parents shouting and screaming and even fighting
, you can generalise with any group.....

Any parent who stand in line for hours on end to support their children should be applauded! There are lots of parents too wrapped
up in their own lives to care what their kids are doing, and im pretty sure every child there is there because they want to be!!!
Quite an irritating read I thought.
