Girls are in this "Battle to Rome" competition.... they get to perform at Tourfest in Italy if they have the most views. Unfortunately some of the other contestants have been deliberately voting against them :( They've won 2 rounds and keep going head to head! They need as many youtube views as possible to win so if people could watch and share their video it would really help. I've also banned them from buying youtube views as so many people obviously have done as I don't think its fair!

I don't understand "voting against them".

I have watched the video :)

I hope they do well - but any "competition" that depends on buying votes or views and somehow allows "negative" voting is a pretty terrible competition.

This is the one that you have to pay to audition for isn't it?

I have watched it, but it all seems a bit messy with the voting thing..

I hate these types of competions :(

Anything that is based on how many friends someone has is not a true competition at all and not based on who's the most talented, not something I can ever be a part of. I'd much rather be in a good old fashioned event and come last than win on anything other than true merit, maybe I'm just old fashioned in that sense?

Companies do it as a marketing tool so have thousands of voters details etc, or raising their own profile, they aren't competitions in the true sense.

However, everybody is different and has different views, this is just mine but I do wish you luck x

Understand all of your comments.... Teenstar is new this year... I'm a teacher not a parent but this is my view on it....

It's £5 to enter which you get back if you're unsuccessful at the first audition.

If you get through to the regional showcase (theirs was at the Royal Northern College of Music) you pay £30 to secure your place which you get back when you leave the competition.

There is an element of voting in the judges at the live shows.... At the regional show I think 4 places went through on the highest judges scores only and then the next 2 that went through were a combination of judges scores and audience vote.

Then at the area final (Huddersfield) It was the top 5 judges scores and only 1 included audience votes. These girls got knocked out at this stage but will not go into the farcical email i received from them about loosing the sound settings and saying they should only stand 20cm from the monitor in order to be able to hear themselves but then they get marked out of 20 for performance/choreography... GRR!

Alongside this they run this battle to rome competition which is based on youtube views. The girls are really keen to do this so I have supported them as much as I can. There's another element where if you don't get through people can text vote and you can go through as a "Wildcard" I wouldn't let my girls do this as It's a case of buying your place in the final and I think it's a waste of money so we didn't argue when we were unsuccessful at the area finals.

It's been a HUGE amount of work! Off the back of this the girls have had 2 live radio interviews with big stations, countless press articles and photographs, free singing lessons, free studio time (3 different places) and have been asked to do millions of performances. Both the kids and the parents have found it exhausting as it has all been very full on but at the same time they've gained a lot from it.

I think for this group it's been really good for them and they've had weekends away at various holiday parks where they've been invited to perform etc and they're all friends so have enjoyed the process.... but there's no denying it gets expensive when parents are paying for lessons, costumes, tickets etc.

Thank you for watching their video anyway. There's no way some of these girls parents could afford to send them to Italy and you can't buy performing at tourfest so we'll give it our best shot. x
