The Best Websites and Sources of Info?

Post by eleanorrigby66 »

Hello all

I'm very new to all of this. My DD is 7 and starting to do fantastically well in all things stage performance and it seems only right that I encourage and support her as she moves into professional theatre.

I'm just wondering where you all find your information? NAPM has been a fantastic source, and we're on KCCP. But where else would you advise? Do people visit thestage or get the magazine for example, and is it helpful?

Advise is much appreciated - thank you! :)

Hi - my dd is much older than yours at 15, my only advice would be ask everyone you come into come into contact with .... and keep asking :) Some people will be more willing to share info than others - particularly if they see your dd as competition ;) ;)
It is a learning curve for all of us - but to be honest the vast majority of info you need will be found somewhere on here if you search or the people on here will point you in the right direction - best of luck to you and your dd :) :)

I think professional stage opportunities for younger people are much more likely to be shared openly (and you will find them here, as often as not). It's also worth keeping an eye on your local theatres' websites - just in case there are some local opportunities for professional work too.

In the case of TV and Film - if this interests your dd - most of the time you will need an agent for access to these sorts of opportunities (if it's paid, professional opportunities you are after). Screen Terrier seems to be a good site too.
