This is the first component of her social media stuff, offering free download of I'm Wide Awake, the song that got to No 4 in the Stars of Tomorrow chart back in July and has had hundreds of listens on soundcloud. Its based on a model for direct marketing in the music industry that I downloaded a couple of months ago. It's aimed for musicians who aren't signed to a label and don't have lots of resources to promote their music, which fits Flo to a T! It cost me about £30 and it gives very detailed instructions about what to do and how to do it. Not for the feint-hearted - it involves a bit of coding, file sharing, email scheduling and heaven knows what, but luckily both Flo and Pandy are pretty hot with that sort of thing so they have managed to pick their way through it.
If you want to know more about it or how it works, feel free to ask and I'll be happy to share what I know or am picking up along the way. It might be helpful to other young musicians who want to promote their work or if you have other content that can be marketed on-line (like the web-based 'TV' series that are becoming popular these days, or even e:books for example) it fits with that too.
