On the degree funded courses (not the DaDA funded courses) then students from low income families can get a loan to cover the fees and a loan towards maintenance costs and, in some cases, a maintenance grant as well. However, the amount of the maintenance loan would be reduced by the amount of any maintenance grant awarded - so students end up with the same pot of money available.
If DaDA is the same as when I went then there is no student loan entitlement at all, but there is a hardship
grant available towards maintenance/living costs for students from low income families. It is very unlikely to cover
all the costs involved in living away from home unfortunately - though it's obviously a huge help.
DS had a loan and a grant when he went to RADA - he still had to work and fundraise to make enough money to live in London for the duration of the course. It's such an expensive place to live
