Time off school refusal

Post by islandofsodor »

A short while back (last Xmas maybe) someone posted a copy of a letter they had successfully used to get the LA to issue a performance licence when the head had refused time off.

A friends dd has just been cast in our local rep theatres Christmas production (she did it last year & still achieved level 5 SATS) she started at a new high school yesterday & they will only authorise a total of 10 sessions (production runs November - January)

Can anyone remember the letter, who posted it as I've tried searching but can't find it.

I'd imagine this will get worse now that schools are fining parents for absence. The reasons they use regarding the gap in their education being very negative, will automatically be used against them when they give time off for what most people will see as a 'jolly'.

You can imagine the local paper. School allows parent to take child out of school to take part in a pantomime, but bans trip to america to have one last holiday with granny before she passes away!

Many heads will have real problems now.
