Musical Theatre @16 London/Essex

Post by Jules »

Hi all, looking at post 16 courses for entry 2018, really looking for any recommendations for BTEC Extended Level 3 courses for Musical Theatre in London/Essex area.

DD is also looking at Level 6 Trinity Diploma, these seem to be everywhere but struggling to find a really good BTEC course that is free or not too expensive, just so we've got the option and not reliant on DaDa funding. Her strengths are singing and acting, she can dance but not her strongest skill. She's really not keen on A Level route at the moment.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know nothing about these other than another poster recommended them. I believe she has a child who attends. I don't even know if it's close enough to where you're looking for something.

My friends daughter is doing the BTEC at Italia Conti Arts centre in Guildford. We went to an open day there and seems nice and friendly with cheap living accommodation on site x

Can highly recommend Emil Dale Academy for BTEC Extended in Hitchin, Hertfordshire although it is not free I'm afraid.

Hi, I would recommend contacting Bodens College of Performing Arts (www.performingartscollege.co.uk). They are fully funded, offer full time training and an enormous amount of performance opportunities. They offer a Level Three Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (over two years, I think) and they have a Gap Year course too - I think it's Level Four and Six - but worth checking with them what that involves. Honestly, couldn't recommend them any hire - and it's all free!!

Thanks all, have already applied to Bodens and Emil Dale, Italia Conti Guildford is just not do-able travel wise, shame they don't do that course at Barbican. Going to Brit School open day on Thursday to have a look.

South Essex College (based in Southend) do btec in MT or dance. This year their students gained offers at Urdang, Bird, Laine, LSC, Performers, Millennium, LIPA, Chichester and Mountview. Xxx
