I'm auditioning with Kelly later this month, just found out today but not sure about what to use as my audition piece. Also, does anyone know whether you have to read a poem as well as doing a monologue? They didn't say what they wanted for the audition in the email unfortunately, just when it is.

I'd recommend a speech (from a modern play) rather than prose or poetry. How old are you BC27?

They'll be interested in whether or not you can act, and while a nursery rhyme or poem will be useful for a small child, I still think you need to think of this as an acting audition. You could always email them and check, it's better to prepare something they want than something they don't!

Try to find something written in the way you normally speak (even if the subject matter isn't something you'd normally talk about!). In other words, don't choose Shakespeare or Dickens. Also try to find a character as close to your own age as you can.

I do have my doubts about an agency that insists that you attend weekly classes that you have to pay for... though the provision of classes for those interested seems like a great idea. I just don't like the compulsion aspect and can't see why it's necessary if they think you are good enough to take on. Only my opinion though!

Thanks pg, yeah Kelly contacted my mum when she was out, she couldn't here what they were saying annoyingly. They probably said don't do a prose/poetry, I mean it's unlikely they'd want anything other than a monologue from a play, right? I'm 14 by the way.

I think you'll be on safe ground if you stick with a short monologue! Good luck!

Yes, I think that would be fine as long as it suits your age and accent.

Same. They said they'd get back to me within a few days but they never did. Although my audition was really bad due to nerves so I knew I hadn't got in anyway, but still. They could at least ring to say 'sorry but no'. (Of course agents are very busy people.)

I was thinking of sending an email to this agency but I never know how to write a cover letter! Any handy tips/ideas?
