My DD is really enjoying her Drama and Music GCSEs. In her Drama class she says she is in the better class and having seen them I can see the talent that some of them have and the teacher makes them audition if they put a play on so they tend to play on their different strengths which is good. In Music I'm glad she's taking it at school as I wasn't convinced about her taking it but fingers crossed, so far it's been good and I'm fairly confident she will get a good grade. There was no way she could get the experience outside as I couldn't afford to pay for music lessons, along with all the dance and drama and also she doesn't have any spare time left !! 
Every school and every student is different so we have to hope we and they make the best decision of what they study and how hard they work ...
