Re: Shameless asking for votes....
They got told they won the youtube views.... which was supposed to win them the trip to rome.... then they said who ever won the facebook vote would be presented to tourfest for them to choose who they wanted to perform and then when we were in the final vote on facebook and leading the youtube views they said even if we won both they would present the runner up!
I actually rang tourfest today to ask for feedback on what they didn't like about solved and when I mentioned teenstar they said they were waiting for the email to them who was the winner. I said i was really confused because they were judging it and what was their feedback for solved's video and they said they hadn't seen their video, they weren't judging anything and it was entirely down to Teenstar who they chose to go to Rome.
Gutted we put in so much work. Total waste of time. x

Crikey - that's confusing, isn't it?
Do you mean that whatever the outcome on the votes, they'd already decided not to give it to Solved? Doesn't that contravene some competition rules? It sounds bonkers to me.
But well done for supporting them so enthusiastically.

So sorry - the kids should be proud of their entry, although it sounds like the organisers are a bit of a disgrace.

Re: Shameless asking for votes....
Yes I think they continuously changed the rules throughout the competition to ensure they couldn't win.
Strongly suspect it was financially motivated to ensure they didn't win as it would be much cheaper for them to send a solo act to Rome who is over 16, rather than Solved which is 5 girls under 12 who would also need a chaperone so they would have to pay for 6 people!
I've withdrawn them from Open Mic UK cause as you say, organisers are a disgrace! would avoid with a barge pole! x

Re: Shameless asking for votes....
That's disgraceful! How can they do that to these young people?
We decided many years ago not to go down the competition/festival route etc with DS (after one totally corrupt and ridiculous experience) as so many of it seems unfair and biased for so many different reasons.
Mind you, DS has just left college and his band came runner up in an inter-college competition in the spring and are still to this day waiting for their prize, which was a gig at a well known live music venue! Of course, the band have now moved on to other things so it's never going to happen, but it was so disappointing and such an anti-climax. They had to wait about 2 months to be told what their prize was, too, so not very impressed at all!
(Plust the fact everyone thought they should have won, although I can't comment on that as I am sligtly biased!!!
).
I'm sure "Solved" will have other opportunities and will bounce back fighting.

Re: Shameless asking for votes....
That was our argument that these girls are in the "under 12's" age category and they should have been honest and not exploited 11 year olds and string them along to get every last drop of publicity out of them when they were never going to be allowed to win anyway!
Teenstar told the mother who said this that she had "sourgrapes" was setting a bad example for her child, was just jealous and barred her from their facebook page!
Disgraceful behaviour.... Never touching Future Music Events again! x

I can't believe it! Solved should have won and deserved it!tillymintflip wrote:Yes I think they continuously changed the rules throughout the competition to ensure they couldn't win.

And Solved are under 12? I though that some of them were at least 15 or 14 years old! They are extremely good for their age!

Re: Shameless asking for votes....
Thank you SNN. The competition started in january and at that time they were 10,11,11,11,13.... they're now all a year older so one of them is 14 and the rest are 12 and under! Thank you everyone for your help anyway! At least hopefully our experience will help others to avoid the same treatment! x
