we have had a few casting and recall fees - mostly as mentioned before for large food chains and supermarkets.
always passed on by the agent, it's not much and doesn't cover fares, but as one of the supermarkets that pays out says "every little helps"

As Begolina says - the above mentioned agent is notorious for not passing on certain fees...and the subject of many discussions in the past , I cannot believe they are the only ones?

I'm also of the view that taking commission on the fees before they are passed on is rather mean. Seriously 20% of £18 not much to the agent but a real difference to the parent who is shelling out to get there and back and although the agent has to use their time to invoice for this does it honestly take that much time to raise an invoice, email it and BACS the cash over to the client?? It's part of the job. Clearly if an agent who has books fit to burst who is sending at least 10 children to a casting and claiming THEIR casting fees then that's a nice little earner for them. Shocking. I don't want to become too embroiled in this discussion (she says tapping away at the keyboard) as it's a bit of a conflict of interest but this is something I feel so strongly about. The fees aren't there for the agent....they are there to help the parents out!!!

I think it is actually more common not to get the fee than to get it. My dd has had 3 different agents over the years and has had a great many auditions and call backs and only ever been told about one £50 call back fee (minus agency commission), and this was only offered when I was undecided as whether to attend due to a school trip. Another time when she got a commercial job, when the receipt came through with her fee the breakdown included a £50 call back fee, which we had not been told about.

My DS has recently done a large chain DIY casting and was successful- he too did not get a fee for attending.

If we don't want to name the agencies that don't pass on the audition fee, why we don't name the agencies that actually DO pass on the fees.

I personally not sure that would achieve much and may make Agents look like they are not being honest. As it has been said before not all castings/productions pay theses attendance fees. I asked my DS Agent about such fees this morning and she has never had any from film/theatre/commercial/photoshoot castings in her time in business, but yes they would have to be passed on. She does not take fees off travel expenses though paid to children for work.

Of course this is just my opinion

I will ask the question when I email agents with a view to representation. No need to name those that do or don't on public view.

Hiya - my DD is with TT - we have attended a commercial but have not received any casting fee - we didn't get a recall though. My DS is with A&J - we haven't been to any commericals but have been to TV and film work - none of these have paid us at either casting or recall stage. I believe TT will pay casting fees to clients if they receive them - we just dont have enough experience with them yet. Hope this is of use to you. All very interesting hearing about other agencies

not all commercial casting attract a fee to be paid , DS has done plenty with no fees por payment
it is usually the recalls that attract a small payment
I can tell you we have been paid a small fee for attending ASDA, MACDONALDS,TESCO and MORRISONS TVC castings...if you have attended such castings, been recalled and HAVEN'T received a few bob - usually about £18 before the agents fees - ...then I would be asking your agent (whoever they are), were those casting paid, and if so, where that money is?

DD has been to a few castings for commercials and has received a casting fee once, from M&S. We'd actually been told it was an unpaid casting but, months later, she received approx. £18 for going along. It wasn't a recall/pencil/anything.

My dc are with daisy and dukes and get all casting fees (less commission)

I am thinking of approaching SY for representation-anyone know if they pay casting fees?

From our experience, TT pass on casting fees when the client pays them, which is rare but can happen with - for example - tvc callbacks. They deduct commission, which is consistent with their contract.
