Hi Elesmum, as well as the scholarship audition in Feb there are several auditions for fee paying places throughout the year for Yr6 & 7 and occasionally Yr8 & 9 if places are available. My dd joined in yr6 & only auditioned in the July for the Sept start. Not all were offered places at even this late in the day audition sometimes though this may be because of a learning difficulty rather than ability to perform! As a full time school the kids also take a Maths & English assessment as part of the audition process. There is only 1 class of up to 22 in yr6 which grows to 2 classes of up to 25 from yr7 onwards. Only 11 kids started with her in yr6 this grew to 16 by the end of the year so I think only 8 or 9 were new entries in yr7 so definitely fewer places available then. The girl you mention Islandofsodor joined in the last term of yr6 and is finishing in Billy Elliot with my DD this week. I think the school in its current building with current staff is maxed at about 250 kids but they may have expansion plans who knows! I would recommend sticking to songs & routines you know well and are extremely comfortable with. They are not looking for the finished product but kids they feel have true potential and ambition. If you can, I would suggest auditoning for yr6, however, this would only be for a fee paying place as scholarship are only offered from yr7. I think it helps that you are known from the Summer or Saturday school than a complete unknown as the staff are the same. Best of luck in what you decide to do.

Hi claret, thank you so much for all the info we have decided to apply for a fee paying place in year 6 so all we can do now is sit and wait and see how it goes. Do you know if they sing their song with a backing track or piano?

Hi Elesmum, I only check in every few days! My dd had sheet music for her song which the head of music played on the piano, but her dance routine was a backing track on CD so either is fine. Yes I think to audition in yr6 is def a good idea. My dd looks at it as an extra year at the school she loves, but also because the intake is small in yr6 the teachers and other pupils get to know them very quickly. She is absolutely loving the school and it's never a chore to get her to work as she is surrounded by other kids who seem to be very motivated and organised. Also they are all ultimately wanting Sylvia's approval so they all work hard!
