But 37.5% ??????  On children's earnings????!!!

All the acting agencies I know (and they're long-established big name ones) take between 10 and 15 % on theatre, TV, and film work.

Surely as londontown9 says this has to be a mistake? Can anyone who's with them confirm?
It seems very high, but I think BaB focus on commercial modelling work and therefore the kids will get paid a lot more than if they were in the theatre, say. 37.5% of theatre earnings would feel like robbery to me - but BaB don't focus on theatre as far as I know.

I think the 37.5% come about as they used to take 25% from child's earnings and charge the client their agency fee now it is all lumped together. I have not noticed a big decrease in the money i receive from a job. Bobe are very approachable, communication is amazing. All the paperwork you do at beginning is to help with licencing. If you need a licence for a job they have all the necessary paperwork and do it all for you. Lots of agencies get parents to run about last
Minute organising licencing. Hang in there a
Casting or even straight job could be just
Round the corner.

Kitkat67 is correct, there was a change in the law as to how the agencies had to take the money/invoice it. You are still only being charged 25% from each job as always.

..the 37.5% is for photographic work.. all acting work is 25%! Most agents charge similar, except acting agents and stage schools that take much less

That is a shame.
However in their defence, when we were with them my DS got castings at least 4 x a week. He got work with them and we were happy.
Have you contacted them to ask how you could improve your chances of getting a casting? I have found them very approachable (in my experience).
Sometimes talking it through with the agent may help ;) Good luck x

Your original post on this was only in March and it's only June now. Perhaps it's best you really sit and do your homework more than you have because 3 months with no casting is not uncommon in this industry, some wait a lot longer! BB are a reputable agent so I feel you may have shot your impatient self in the foot. Yes, be aware there may be some dodgy agents out there but BB isn't one of them, no agent can guarantee you work regardless of who they are, this industry requires high levels of patience :D

Heck !
We haven't had a casting for over a year!

My DS is also with BoBE, and I'm not complaining ...if there is anything out there who wants a 13 yr old giant , he is submitted by them, sadly opportunities are few and far between for someone like my DS. We plod on and hope things might pick up when he is older. He has had some lovely jobs as a younger boy, but again , not THAT many. And most castings were fruitless.
It's not the fault of his agent, they get paid when your DC is cast, it's in their interest to find them work.
Meanwhile I will carry on trying to source the odd bit of work and he carries on training and honing his skills for adulthood when he needs to live and pay his bills!
He's not going to get the work at the moment and we just accept it.

There will be a myriad of reasons your DD isn't getting castings, ( and as Dwaffamily so rightly says) you haven't been with them long, I'm sure the agent is submitting her for everything she fits the brief for.

Please don't look at other kids and think "why isn't my kid getting work"? It will drive you nuts!
There are SO many reasons, even down to certain children having "universal" faces, they fit with most pretend parents and slot into commercial work easily...

For every part there are potentially 500 +children submitted, it's luck, it's look, it's.............well, anything

If you have lost all trust and confidence then by all means move on to another agent - or apply at least, but understand there are no guarantees, none at all, to keep at this game you have to have buckets of realism, the ability to bounce back and endless patience .... It's not easy ](*,)

Blimey - that's a lot of castings! How did you keep up?

LovelyChloe - I agree with other posters, you need to give them time to succeed. But if you are unhappy, do have a chat with them before reaching a conclusion about what is happening. If we just happen to be going through a quiet patch for your DD's 'type', moving to a different agent won't make any difference.

I don't have direct experience of BB but I have heard consistently good things about them from numerous parents and young artists.

Good luck - I hope your DD gets the opportunities she wants very soon.

Deb x

Well Flosmum we were exhausted and realised that DS did not have a 'commercial look' and was never booked for adverts. Which is one of the reasons we left to move onto more acting roles.
He now has fewer castings but we are happy with that :)
