I have a feeling that we had to pay £400 to Arts Ed to secure the place but that this was refundable up to a certain date which was quite late. Think the idea was that you could hold a place and if you got an offer from a preferred college you could then get your deposit back. That was in 2011 though so things may have changed.

What can you do? Your hands are tied. You can't make an informed decision until all offers are made, so you have to pay and confirm if that is the way they do things. I do think they should refund you if you don't end up taking the place, though. Still, I do appreciate that we are in an incredibly lucky position to have a place after just one audition, so my cheque book has been located and we are just enjoying the moment!!

It may be worth phoning or emailing them to see how set in stone that is. I did that last year when my DD was offered a couple of places at PPA, explained that she was still waiting for some responses, and they extended the date. I'm not saying it will work but it could be worth a try.

Thank you! Well, this is the thing, she won't be 18 till Nov next year, that's why we ruled out the BA this time around. Having said that, someone did post that their DC went for the diploma and got offered the degree! It's a bit of a game changer for us, as now I have to find out about student loans etc, which I hadn't researched because I didn't think she was eligible!

A friend of my DD has been asked for £1000 to hold her place at PPA! Unbelievable!!

Thank you both. Arts was her very first audition, she's 17. She's disappointed not to make the BA. 9 were recalled from her audition of around 35-40 people. She was delighted with the recall and felt she did a good job on the afternoon. The foundation may be an option, we'll see where we are after all auditions are finished.

Can finally say, DD auditioned at Laine on Monday and was offered a scholarship, on the spot, during her audition by Miss Laine herself. Letter arrived today. We are all thrilled
