It’s exciting to hear of offers coming through, well done to all, this thread seems to be a lot quieter this year than last year! DD’s are all Feb/March so stressful times to come (well for me anyway, daughter is a lot more chilled this year) and I agree with earlier post, so expensive with hotels, train tickets etc, at least as daughter is in Essex this year at Performers she is able to go to some with friends and share hotel costs. Fingers crossed for everyone and good luck xx

It does seem quieter, perhaps more are applying late this year. Think a lot more are doing foundation/pre Voc courses as well as the 6th form/BTEC routes? So auditioning later.
My DD doing many auditions with friends this time which is better for them I think as us parents aren’t stressing them out and as you say it’s cheaper for them to share with friends etc. Good luck with this year’s auditions

So lovely to see everyones offers. It seems so weird that my dd is now in her 2nd year at The Hammond thinking about her last year!!! So much stress at the start and then time just flies by!! Goodluck all x

Yes I was thinking how much quieter it was. Having read through last years thread for advice and experiences there are far fewer pages this year by this point.

I think becmum is right, a lot more foundation places are being taken up so then they want to audition later. DD’s course at Performers usually has around 25 students, this year there are 49 (split into 2 groups though so still fab training). I think there are so many more applicants nowadays that if it is financially viable then you almost have to take a foundation course to gain extra training, we know of a few people who didn’t take up a foundation offer and then didn’t get offered anything the next year. So frustrating when they cost so much but then when you’re told that the top colleges are getting 5000+ applicants for probably 150 places you can see why!

My daughter is lucky as she has received degree offers from EDA and Bird (on the day), a Foundation offer from GSA on the day and has a further recall at Arts Ed. The majority of her friends though have been put on to reserve lists. The Colleges seem to be making far fewer offers early on this year than they did 4 years ago when my older daughter was auditioning. I think it makes more sense that they see everybody before making their final decisions although frustrating for those who have to wait for months. Guess it’s the fairest way though ?

My dd is auditioning for Laine in Feb . The rest are in March with the exception of Urdang which is 26th April . That’s because she had an issue with logging in to accept an audition date . By the time it was sorted her preferred date was unavailable .
She’s a bit worried that all the places will have been given out by then so fingers crossed.

I'm sure it won't be a problem but have you contacted Urdang to see if they have a waiting list for cancellations for an earlier audition? I guess it's worth a try if she would feel happier doing it earlier.

I don’t think going late makes much difference nowadays, due to the number of students taking up Foundation courses they are all auditioning later so I think there is a lot more going on reserve lists until all the auditions have taken place. They’re not going to fill up all their places before their last audition date and then pass up on someone totally amazing! I’m sure she will be fine x

I’m always curious as to how colleges decide at the end of the audition process . Do they take videos/photos or write detailed notes /scores?

They are scored, above a certain score gets a place there and then, between other scores goes on reserve list etc etc, or at least that’s how dd was told it worked at Performers, then at the end they go through the scores and offer places.

Yes,definitely scored but of course a mystery how those scores are made. However on the Arts Ed website somewhere,you may have to dig deep, you can see what they are scored on and marks 1- 5.
They have a new website now so maybe not on there anymore.
