Fantastic news! You are in the same situation as us, degree offer at Millenium on first audition. It's lovely because for my DD it took the pressure off, boosted her confidence and meant that she could really enjoy her other auditions without worrying too much. Congratulations! Onwards and upwards!!

Dd hasn't had her first audition yet, she is doing a foundation year at ArtsEd (MT) so purposely leaving it late, on their advice, to get the maximum benefit. Her auditions won't finish until April.
I feel less anxious this year as , a) I know she'll be as well prepared as possible and b) she doesn't live at home any more!

Hello Soda, Do you have any idea why Artsed feel it is better to leave your DD auditions late. Our DD auditioned 2 yrs ago and left her application until after Christmas, we found that a lot of places had filled their courses and our DD didn't get offered much at all. This time around she applied early and she has been offered places at three out of four auditions. She has her last audition next week.

Kzgirl, I think it's a bit of a balancing act. The main reason dd did the foundation was to bring her dance skills up to the standard required for auditions. Her head of year was very keen they didn't audition until they were as well prepared as possible.

Hi everyone, my first post - planing travel - could anyone advise how long the Bird audition takes for the BA Dance MT? DD is auditioning on 2nd Feb? many thanks

My daughter was finished by 4 pm last year. It depends on the singing and acting part of the audition. Everyone is seen individually, it was in alphabetical order and we are towards the end of the alphabet. Once you have been seen you are free to go,probably between 3-5 pm finish time.

On the subject of leaving auditions late if you are on a Foundation [or similar] course.
After my D's experiences last year, I would always advise auditioning early. My D was on an acting Foundation course at East 15 and was told not to audition until late on. She took this advice, but almost ended up with nothing. She wasn't offered the full BA at East, and initially didn't get in to her preferred choice, Central, due to the fact that they had simply run out of places to offer.If she had applied earlier in the process, she probably would have got in. Fortunately, she was subsequently offered a place, but not until August.
Be careful with Foundation courses. They are not feeder courses for the BA courses. Was not particularly impressed with the way in which East went about the audition process for their foundation students. I think that you need to do what is best for you.

We were told 4pm but she was still in her dancing part until 5.30pm, as were some who did their singing in the afternoon. I would give yourself time, as there is nothing worse than watching the minutes tick past when you have a train to catch!!

Just to add to this, my DD has the offer of the degree at Millenium. We did part one of the enrolment as required to hold the place but it did say on the email:
"Please note all places are allocated on a first come first served bases and cannot be guaranteed until confirmation has been sent to you. If it has not been possible to allocate you a place. Your registration fee will be returned to you." That was a bit unexpected!!

Having said that at Evolution, all of the students we spoke to on the Foundation were advised to audition as late as possible to make sure they were fully prepared and had made the most of their foundation year.

My DS was advised to audition late too. In fact, he was in the very last auditions for two colleges. Mountview announced at the end of the audition that they had actually found "their cast" already which I think was a bit unfair. However, he was offered a place at Arts Ed which was his preferred college so bit of a mixed bag really. Not sure there is a "best" time to audition.

My DD got a level 6 offer at Stella Mann today and we are thrilled with her offers so far. They are doing DADAs again

Re: auditioning late I think it depends on the course you are applying for. Dd2 auditioned late last year as she was doing a part time Foundation course in Acting/Musical Theatre and part time at a local dance college (2 full days on her Foundation course and 3 full days in the dance college). She auditioned for 6 Musical Theatre/Dance colleges and sent off her applications just before Christmas 2015. She got places at all 6 with 3 DaDA offers (would have been 4 but she didn't get the letter back in time).
A friend's dd planned to have all her auditions completed before Christmas but then got an injury so ended up auditioning at the same time as my dd. She also got places at all the colleges she auditioned for with funding. Both were auditioning for Diploma courses.

That is fantastic news - you must be so proud. Stella Mann looks a great College. My daughter has a private audition there at the end of April as we needed to know about the funding before getting in trouble with her school for taking another day off and didn't want the hassle if it wasn't a feasible option.
