My DS was advised to audition late too. In fact, he was in the very last auditions for two colleges. Mountview announced at the end of the audition that they had actually found "their cast" already which I think was a bit unfair. However, he was offered a place at Arts Ed which was his preferred college so bit of a mixed bag really. Not sure there is a "best" time to audition.
All new to me!] [/quote]

Mountview changed their audition process a couple of years ago I believe .They now have a recall weekend in May and make their choices after that . By the time he had recall DS had his preferred place so didn't take it. DS was told to audition late, as colleges often hold places back for this. Doesn't sound like there is a right or wrong answer. Just don't apply until they are ready as dates can come through really quickly.

Thankyou everyone . We may be out of the bracket for DADA awards this year so that may cause us a few issues really. We just have to continue with the auditions and see what the P60s hold for us in April I think #-o

We were told 4pm but she was still in her dancing part until 5.30pm, as were some who did their singing in the afternoon. I would give yourself time, as there is nothing worse than watching the minutes tick past when you have a train to catch!!
Thank you will plan this is really helpful

Fantastic, well done =D> =D> We found out today DD has been offered the diploma at Bird!! It's an unfunded offer so I don't think she's going to take it but we are so proud. 4 out of 4, so it's decision time now for us!!

Don't be so quick to turn down the unfunded offer of a Diploma place at Bird - dd2 got the same letter last year. We accepted the place and I put in a note on the acceptance letter to say that she would be unable to go without funding. Dd2 heard at the beginning of June last year that she had been awarded a DaDA. She's now in her first year at Bird and is so happy :)

Well done everyone, some great offers :D Good advice Jaylou62 worth following up. Feeling nervous for DD and she has 2 weeks until first auditions. Luckily she has a college trip next week and just found out she got the lead in the end of year show so bit of a boost!

Great news, congratulations and well done. Wonderful position to be in, to have offers to decide between.

Hi All - this is my first post. I have been reading with interest everyone's audition experiences so far as this will be my dd this time next year. Whilst she has a very good idea of where she wants to go etc it is lovely to get some knowledge. I have been on Balletco forum for a while as my dd was quite ballet focused but on going to the open days, audition workshops and from advice from her current teachers she is wanting to more of a triple threat but is focusing on Level 6 Dance Diploma. She is currently doing a BTEC in Dance at our local college. So lovely to here of all the success stories on here. Let's keep them coming :D

Hi Belledancer
I don't know what else your DD already does - obviously her dance is going to be strong but if she wants to go for "triple threat" she might need to use this year to explore the other areas a bit more - singing is in all the MT auditions I think and some regular lessons definitely helped my DD this year. Your DD could also be reading and seeing more plays to talk about at interviews and to look for monologues and if possible try a pre-voc course or audition workshop. Book open days early - they sell out quick although not everywhere does these now. I found it useful to really look into the different colleges in terms of fees and funding etc If she is musical too you can do "quadruple threat" MT at Royal Scottish Conservatoire - auditions include playing an instrument - Jan deadline for applications - like the UCAS courses. Lots of good tips on NAPM about the process of auditions. I find it helpful.

Hi Robin64 - She is having private singing lessons just started in order be song ready for auditions and has found a voice she never knew she had and has weekly drama lessons although only 15 mins to get her monologue prepared. We have been to Laines audition day back in October as well as Performers, Birds and LSC and Bodyworks in Cambridge Open days. We are lucky enough to be able to get into London easily so see musicals regularly - saw Aladdin and Mathew Bournes Red Shoes over the xmas period. She has had lot of performance experience with National Youth Ballet and All England Dance Finals. It's just scary when you see the numbers auditioning at these colleges! She gave up the recorder age 5 no is not musical much to my disappointment as I played flute and piano up to grade 5 and A level. Also doing Laines and Performers Easter Schools
