I am stressing too Katymac and to make matters worse my dd has now fractured a bone in her foot and is in cast. We are besides ourselves with worry now as still have some auditions left to do. It is such good news for those who have offers already with funding though and must be such a relief.

I started off about to say "at least I'm not on my own" but actually I wouldn't wish this feeling on anyone :(

I hope you hear soon

Katymac - really hope that you get some good news soon, I know you started the audition process early so it has been a long journey for you, fingers crossed that it will be worth the wait. :) ellis951 - your dd must be gutted, what terrible timing for a broken foot :( Hopefully the auditions she has left are not for her top choice colleges and she gets good offers from wherever she has already auditioned :)

I just want to wish all of you the best of luck, I hope it all works out for your DC's. In the end my DD decided not to audition this year (unfortunately I had already paid all the audition fees!!!!). She was making herself ill with stress over the auditions and GCSE's so she has auditioned and been accepted in to our local college to do a BTEC in Musical Theatre for the next 2 years. It will give her time to build confidence and decide if she wants to audition at 18.

Hi all, another newbie here, my daughter auditioned at 3 colleges and fortunately has received degree offers from both Bird and Urdang but doesnt know which one to choose ?? Help
She also has an offer from Laine but has to attend the callback for potential funding. She is going to decline this though as she felt the teachers werent as inspiring and the students she met on the day were a bit on the 'cliquey' side compared to the other two schools mentioned. We also know of at least 2 other students rejecting Laine recall for similar reasons and one of them had even been offered considerable funding. Anyway, only reason for mentioning this was to reassure those on reserve lists that lots of places will probably come up soon as many students are currently holding 3/4 places and will need to release them imminently. Keep the faith and good luck all

Hi als17, my dd auditioned at 15 and, although she got offers, for various reasons decided to stay at home and did a BTEC in Musical Theatre. Her dancing was already strong but over the 2 years her singing and acting has improved dramatically and she has had a great time and gained loads of experience and confidence. Although it felt like a last resort at the time, I honestly think she is in a better position to embrace the demands of vocational training now than 2 years ago. Obviously they are all different (my dd is an August baby so v young in her year group) but if you have other options I don't think there is any harm in waiting :)

Hi amayzing, my dd has exactly the same offers as your dd, and the same dilemma :? Laine has always been her dream but financially it would be difficult even with a DaDA, Bird always seemed like the 'next best' to her but she was unexpectedly blown away by Urdang (which she hadn't really liked 2 years ago)... It is a fortunate position to be in though. And yes, places will be freed up soon so good luck to those waiting x

Thank you Carriecrafts, I certainly feel very relieved that she made this decision. She is a strong dancer but a general all-rounder so she could go any way really. At the moment she is talking of doing an Acting degree after the BTEC so I think these two years will give her time to know her mind more.

I hope your DD gets the place she wants and the funding she needs - best of luck :-)

Ellis - I'm so sorry about your daughters foot! Very bad timing and I hope everything works out for her for the best xx

Als17 - I understand your DD's nerves, as my DD was just like that for the past 2 years she has auditioned. This year she has gained a good deal of confidence and strangely, although nervous on audition days, she seems very different (to me anyway) at the end of an audition day, often coming out 'elated' and telling me what an amazing day she's had. It is probably best to wait until she feels right.

Katymac, by any chance is your DD going to the funding audition at Bodyworks on the 22nd April, if so would you like to go for a coffee? (or anyone else with a DC auditioning that day?)

Not long now, hopefully - fingers crossed DD's years of hard work, love and passion for all things MT, driving here there and everywhere, financial struggles, mental anguish, DD lack of confidence, DD disappointments, my disappointments for DD, my strong belief in DD never failing...... - fingers crossed it is about to pay off :)

I'm optimistic though, if not this year, then there will always be a next year.

Hi Katymac, sorry, my confusion. Your DD has still had excellent offers this year - it will all come good :) (DD had foundation offer last year so was over the moon to get an offer, but of course it all hinges on funding for her)

Sue - such a loooong journey. In a strange way I've loved every step. (will miss the auditions, crazy!)

A proud moment - DD was asked to speak publically last week to a local trust who has supported her over the years to help fund a years dance lessons & an audition week at Urdang whilst I went through some personal financial struggles ( she was 15, so they've known her for 4 years now) Then again the trust paid for 1/2 of a term on her foundation course this year which was very welcome as putting the fees together prooved very difficult for me (single mum) She did me so proud, expressing to 35 kind members/ strangers what it means to her (performing, training)....there were a couple of teary eyes when she finished.

No matter what happens with her journey this year, I know she will achieve what she wants to eventually (if not this year). Like all of our DC, she has 'what it takes', talent, determination, committment and passion. I feel fortunate to be able to help her get there.
