Just received an email to say Open Auditions on 25 – 28 July 2013. Everyone who has registered will be contacted by 19 July with date and venue of audition. The details are attached to the email but this information pack can also be downloaded from http://www.shakespearesglobe.com/youngplayers. You can still register until 15 July.
Audition requires two pieces (one of your own and one from a selection sent to you) I think they are expecting a high volume of hopefuls for this open audition!

My DD has also had an invite - and as guessed, its when we are on holiday. We are really gutted. :( :( :(

Just to be clear the info I posted was from a public website so all the information is available to everyone. I innocently posted this as i just thought I was being helpful as so many others have been to me on this site. Really sorry if I have offended, the last thing I wanted to do, honest!

We are away as well. The National Theatre has having a totally different approach. They are doing the auditions and sorting all the paperworks before the summer holiday. Maybe they want to favour children who don't go away?

I don't understand how you could possibly have offended anyone Heatherrose?

No, that was me having walked in the door with my DD distraught because the dates clash with our holiday and me unpacking shopping and her shouting out info from the website and from this thread and her not explaining to me (or me having even sat down to read it all) that it was public information. Usually not all details are put onto here (for obviously reasons) so I hope you will accept me being cross that you'd posted every single detail when it turns out the Globe has posted every single detail they sent in an email to us anyway, then putting down the shopping to comment on your post!!! Lesson learnt - I will read ALL the facts before replying in future.

AHHHH! I had hoped that I would never have to go to one of these long queue auditions!

It's not open in the traditional sense, you can't just turn up on the day(s) (like they had for extras in Les Mis etc) you have to register before 15th July for the auditions 25-28th July. Wonder if you will be given a time/day to attend once you have registered!

That's interesting riverdancefan. The stagetracker info says you can be from anywhere in the UK http://stagetracker.blogspot.co.uk/2013 ... ayers.html

Haven't checked the shakespeareglobe link but I AM AMAZED. Actually no good for us as ds is on his GCSE year from September and dd doing National Youth Choir course next Easter but great news for other non Londoners (if you can face the journeys involved  )

Good Luck all :D :D :D

Yes, sounds like you will need to have been given a date and time to attend - def not just turn up as says you can't attend if not registered.

Only calling it open casting as that's what they are calling it themselves....
And apart from registering I guess that pretty much what it will be... Let the queues commence!
I hate workshop auditions, so much pot luck involved when so many kids are involved

Very disappointed !
BUT in it to win it and all that

Yes, not a fan of workshops either - don't think the kids get a fair chance to show themselves - but you are right riverdancefan you got to be there to be in with a chance - I am sure my dd will be there :) x

Same here! It feels weird being so connected, wishing each other luck, but never seeing them in person!
