I 'thought'
1) A few people they loved & they got a place and a DaDA
2) A few people they really liked & they got a place and a waiting list DaDA
3) A few people they liked & they got a place
4) A few poeple were next on the list& they got a waiting list place
5) Then a foundation/pre-voc
6) Then a waiting list for that
So if a person was in 1 takes a place in another school everyone bumps one up the list but if a person accepts the place but can't accept the DaDA then only people on 2 move up one
& say someone is 3 goes to another college then only 4 moves up
BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT I ONLY GUESSED AT IT (disclaimer)

My ds auditioned on the 14th march for the degree and funding for the diploma. He has a confirmed place on diploma course which I think he would prefer.
He is hoping for a dada but also feels the email he received to be a rejection as we don't know whether they are waiting to allocate dadas or if he is on a reserve list, it was very unclear.
Some people he knows have been offered places on the degree and internal funding for the diploma but not heard of anyone getting dadas yet.
All this waiting is painful !
He still has funding recall at laines on the 24th April though.

I would think that most dada offers would not go out until they have had all funding recalls otherwise it wouldn't be fair to people who have later recalls.
As Katymac said a few people who are amazing are probably offered dada's straight away but everyone else surely have to wait until after the last recall.
I also know that Birds don't offer out many dada's until they have finished auditions.
I believe that Performers have now finished their auditions so we could possibly hear from them soon but I should imagine we'll be waiting until May time for Bird and Urdang.
Urdang also have internal funding so I suppose there's a chance of that if you're not offered a dada!
We are also at Laines on the 24th, they said that they usually take a few weeks after the funding recalls to inform everyone.

I think Katymac is correct in how Urdang offers are made for Diploma. It is complicated further by the Degree offers. Everyone who gets recalled for the Degree has a firm place on the Diploma. Following the recall they can be offered:
a place on Degree,
a reserve for Degree,
a DaDA/Urdang bursary for Diploma,
waiting list for DaDA/bursary
none of the above, so just the unfunded Diploma place.
DD's friend applied for Degree, got offered Diploma with recall for Degree, following recall they have been told they are on the waiting list for funding for the Diploma, have not been offered Degree at this time but may still be considered for it. Presumably that means 'firm Diploma offer, reserve Degree, reserve bursary' but the emails don't seem to have been worded very clearly

Its torture isn't it!
DD has another friend who still hasn't had their first audition yet! So while first auditions are going on (as well as recalls) I would think that only the ones Urdang really, really like will be getting firm Degree, DaDA or bursary offers, most people will be getting reserve funding/DaDA/Degree offers. Hang in there everyone, good luck.

Hi all, does anyone know how long it generally takes between a RADA recall and confirmation as to whether you've been successful or not? My DS went to the final RADA foundation recall at the beginning of March and hasn't heard anything since. No one else seems to have heard either, except for one person who tweeted that RADA had rung her and told her she had a place. Logically, I thought they might wait until all the recalls had been finished so they can decide and advise in one fell swoop. In all honesty, given the length of time we have assumed that he hasn't been successful but the not knowing for definite is sending me over the edge...

Hi there,
My daughter is waiting for her final recall for the RADA foundation course. She first auditioned at Feb Half Term.
As we understand it, a waiting list exists for people who have been re called. I don't know whether this is for people who are maybes after the recalls. Not sure either, if some are rejected outright. I also think that RADA wait until all re calls our finished, before making offers.
I could, of course be wrong, but this is what I think happens.
Does anybody have any thoughts on the RADA Foundation course? My daughter would love it, but there is a huge cost implication.
Is it a good course or something of a money spinner? If[a big if] she gets in, we will have to do some serious research.

Thanks jaybeeyellow, that would make sense to me. We were thrown by the fact that one person had received a phone call confirming her place and we hadn't heard anything, and so far RADA have always been very quick to turn things round.
My DS already has an offer of a place on the Foundation Course at the Oxford School of Drama, and the cost is around £2k less than RADA's. He would love to do the RADA course but is very happy with Oxford. |Either way the costs are huge, not to mention the additional accommodation costs. In this respect we are lucky with Oxford as they will arrange links between students and host families.

Huge congratulations to those that have been offered places recently.
We have been away for the last couple of weeks and got back yesterday to a letter from Urdang offering DS the degree and top-up bursary so he is thrilled. He had his recall on 14th March, but we don't know when the letter arrived so I can't comment on how long they took. He didn't hear anything by email. Hope this helps anyone who is still waiting after the 22nd audition.

He hasn't decided yet. He loves Laine but he will need the funding, and he still has a recall at Mountview which is not until May. He has degree offers at LSC, Bird and Urdang and is not sure whether Bird or Urdang is his favourite out of these. He has definitely decided against LSC as he did not enjoy the contemporary there. He is very lucky to have all these choices but will have to make a decision between Bird and Urdang soon as Urdang want a £100 deposit by 20th April!

20th April is early to ask for a deposit!! The Laines recalls aren't until 22nd to 24th! We are at Laines on the 24th! How about you?

DS is there on the 22nd. I can't go with him as I am working, so he will go on the train and is booked into the Travelodge. Which one is your DDs favourite so far?

Laines is her favourite, then probably Urdang and Bird next but it will all depend on if she is offered any funding!! Luckily she has liked them all so would be happy to go to any.
If she doesn't get any funding then she will go to Urdang as she could live at home then.

Hi I am new to this site, but have followed your news with interest. Congratulations to all those with places, we went through this last year so I know what you are all going through. To those on reserve lists, I just wanted to reassure you that it WILL be OK. My DD was on the reserve list at Bird (degree) and was offered a place. She is now in her first year and absolutely loving it. I can't say that it was a particularly pleasant experience, the long wait was torture, but my DD is proof that places are offered from these reserve lists so keep the faith and don't lose hope!
