Hope she's better soon. Our DD had to pull out of one audition last week, she's at Laine today, fingers crossed.
It's so hard, particularly at this time of year, when there are so many viruses around. It was a big worry for me that my DD would catch a cold or have a bad throat close to her auditions, but luckily she got through them all without catching anything! At her Bird audition, they said they didn't want to know if anyone was ill or not 100% because when you go to a show in the West End, the performers just get on with it regardless! I thought that was a bit harsh, as you only get one crack at your audition!

Didn't hear back from Laines today so think I might give them a call tomorrow to see if she can go another time.

DD had her Mountview audition today, she said it all went well but she text me at the lunchbreak to say that she wasn't sure if that would be the right place for her, it didn't have the same feel for her as some of the others she has already auditioned at. At the end of the day it was a no for her but as she was unsure about the place she is fine with that outcome.

But on the plus side we have got home to find an offer letter from Performers offering her a place there - which she is thrilled with. :D

Oh that's good news! Well done to your DD. It's funny how different people get different vibes from a place. My DD loved Mountview and really enjoyed the audition there. She was lucky enough to get a recall and goes back in April. However she went to Trinity Laban on Monday and just wasn't feeling it. Haven't heard from them yet might be another two weeks. Arts Ed was on Tuesday but she didn't get past the first round- she felt it was all a bit rushed and from the 56 auditioned only 5 were recalled and they were all boys.

She did the third round at RCS in Glasgow on Sunday and loved it but found out this evening that she hasn't got in. She didn't expect to and was just proud to have got so far and felt it was a positive experience. She was two years younger than the other applicants there on the day and has heard many times that it is quite rare to get offered a place straight out of school. Very very competitive too as only 18 places.

I am not holding my breath that she will get anywhere this year although a foundation year might be good. She fully expects to be getting a job for a while before trying again next year.

My dd was supposed to be there on 22nd too but she's sustained an injury. The lady at Laine was very helpful and she is rescheduled for end of March. We have had to reschedule 4 auditions! It's all been very upsetting for her and the hardest thing is that we do not really know how long her injury is going to take to heal. I just hope that she will be ok for her new dates and trying to stay positive.

Good to hear your DD has been able to be re-scheduled, I spoke to the lady this morning and all their remaining audition days are now full. My DD is number 6 on the waiting list for unwanted places.

I hope your DDs injury heals in super quick time and she is able to go to her remaining auditions feeling confident that she can do her best.

Well done to your DD for the recall at Mountview, that's a really positive step.

Someone told my DD that as much as the students love certain colleges, the correct college for them will pick them.

My DD has 2 friends that have found Foundations really great. One did Foundation at Laines and then got a 3 year diploma place with them and another is currently on the Foundation at Mountview and has had a great year and is feeling very positive for her auditions (she hasn't started hers yet, they are all in March).

Will keep my fingers crossed something positive happens for your DD

Dd has her first audition tomorrow at LCM. GSA and LAMDA soon after. Central and Mountview in April. Her ArtsEd ones will be throughout March, she is doing the Foundation there so they do one discipline a week, think it's acting first for her. Fingers and toes crossed in our house. Good luck to all those still auditioning x

That's annoying 2girlsmum that you have to wait to see if there's a spare place. I hope you DD gets a chance to audition there soon.

Sorry to hear about the illness and injury, it is a worry. DD has been dogged with throat illnesses ever since getting glandular fever a year ago. With auditions recall and an assessed musical to prepare for it is a nightmare. Only thing really to do is voice rest and doctor suggested some steaming with menthol to clear.
Hope you get a place 2girlsmum, is your DD keen on laine? Did you hear from bird? DD got foundation offer...Argh! Not discounting it completely as she loves it there but the cost is a very big consideration. This process is Hard!

The process is extremely hard. My daughter has been plagued with impacted wisdom teeth, causing a snotty nose and ear infections etc. She had them removed two weeks ago (we waited until after all her auditions and glad we did). DD also had an ACL reconstruction in her knee which took a good two years for the knee to get back to normal. Just greatful we are now the other side of all this. Good luck to everyone and I hope your DD's get well for their auditions.

So, so proud our DD has secured a place at Laine!! She really felt at home there, it's going to mean big cutbacks but I think we can manage it.

Good luck to everyone else, and don't lose heart with the knock backs.

Thanks Robin64, congratulations to your DD on her foundation offer at Bird, that's really good news. Has she got more auditions to do as well as the GSA recall?

DD not heard back from either Bird or GSA yet.

She did like Laine when she attended their pre-audition day last year and if she was to get an offer there she would definitely consider it but it wasn't her number one favourite so if it's not meant to be that she auditions there, then it's not meant to be.

She's very lucky to already have 2 offers (Millennium and Performers), still waiting to hear from Bird and GSA with Arts Ed audition still to come mid March and then maybe Laine.

Must be nice to have firm offers. Congratulations to your DD, hope it makes things a bit easier when she is feeling poorly. I think you are right if the Laine audition doesn't happen then maybe that is meant to be. DD has 2 more auditions plus recall. ArtsEd is a bit of a long shot then Central which we don't know too much about, not having visited yet.
There is a free audition offer for Mountview just been emailed via YMT so maybe DD will try there but it hasn't been on her radar so far to be honest so we will see.
