ds is doing the arthur speech from king john for his lamda exam - the act4 scene 1 one that begins 'must you with hot irons burn out both mine eyes?' (why can't my kids do cheerful pieces, that will gladden my heart to watch )
he has been watching the bbc dvd to get the story of the whole play, but a large part of that actual speech has been cut out
can anyone recommend an alternative dvd that has the whole of the speech in? (it's not exactly the most performed play, is it?)

Re: king john dvd
DS did that speech (but I think it started from "Have you the heart........") and I "translated" it into modern speech so that he understood how to phrase the lines and what it all meant. He found it helped and the feedback from the audition was very positive. Will send in a pm if you like.

Re: king john dvd
flipsife - thanks - that would be lovely
no luck with youtube - we only found p*** takes of the speech
king john is not the most popular of plays (and having sat through it with ds for background, i can see why - when the bard was good, he was good - but when he was writing potboilers to pay the bar bills .....)
