Query about 'sides' and script

Hi, my ds has been put up for an audition for a film part on Monday by his agent. I just opened the email where there are three attachments. One pdf says 'sides' and then there are also two much larger pdfs of 80-90 pages of script - two different scenes. I am a bit confused. Does he have to learn the 'sides' only, or the whole lot? It is now Friday evening and I cannot find out until Monday!
Cheers if you can enlighten me

Hi
DD generally has been sent the whole script but is only expected to prepare a scene or two. Sometimes she has been expected to learn it and other times just to familiarise herself with it ...
Hope this helps

It's as you guessed! The "sides" are the bits you will be expected to be familiar with and will be asked to read/perform in audition and the script is to give you the background so that you know the context (and who you might need to relate to etc).
Concentrate on the "sides" but give yourself time to digest and understand the script and your character's place in it. It is possible you may be asked to sight-read some other parts of the script but it more likely that the audition will only use the "sides".
