As long as they are songs that show her range and that give her a chance to peform through the lyrics on her face then just go with those that she has no fear with so theres less to worry about on the day .. the songs should contrast in terms of if one is emotional and deep the other should show another side of her personality - difficult to say without know her song choice list - but if recalled I expect she will going back to her list again good luck with the process first one this week for us im more worried about the cost to travel in rush hour at the moment going to be an expensive month or so ...

One thing I would advise is to have a few songs ready - my Dd was asked in a few of hers "What else have you got?" so think in terms of a portfolio of songs which are wide ranging in terms of pitch, emotion, speed, genre, date etc.
Basically choose songs which show your voice
and show your acting ability.
PM me if you want anything more specific - having been through this twice we oicked up tips here and there!
Good luck

The usual advice is to avoid anything curently in West End or by ALW.
Good luck!! It is a very expensive time - we had £50 train fares for each one

as well as other expenses (tube, accomodation, food)

Aagin, you need a few. Try to stay within age range to suit auditionee. My DD got hers from watching an MA class on one of her recalls last year - she went up and asked the student afterwards where it was from. This is also done at auditions where you perform in front of each other - my DD often came back with new ideas! And she was asked about hers. Also avoid having to do an accent. Know the monologue back to front and inside out, but when you do it try different ways as in the audition they may well re-direct - if you have only done it one way, the it can be hard to adapt sometimes.
Has your DD decided on where she is applying?

A song that shows off your acting abilities.
Dh wouldn't necessarily say avoid anything well known as the audition panel sometimes like to see what someone does with a well known song. If a song is too obscure then they end up judging the song rather than the performance.
Avoid Jason Robert Brown, dh can play it but needs to practice for song class. JRB is hell for accompanists and you don't want to be singing to a struggling accompanist.
A couplde of really good books are 'Thank You Thats All We Need for now' by Mary Hammond and Succesful Singing Auditions Gillyanne Kayes both written by top vocal coaches.

Some of it is OK. One of his colleges is doing Sweeney Todd this term so he is having to learn the whole shebang!!!!
Seriously, I'll ask him about Sondheim.

Well she would have been more than happy to go to any of the places to be honest. However, she liked the fact that there is more Acting on the central course - hopes this will make her more employable. Also she looked up which agents the previous grads had signed up with , and they were some really top ones. She also checked where they are now - some are in WE musicals, while others are doing Acting roles on TV, theatre and film. i think it was this breadth that finally appealed to her - though as I said, she would have gone to either of the others like a shot if she had to!

Central through ucas? makes it more affordable too I guess-having sleepless nights about it all to be honest.
If they don't get in first time,is it worth taking a year out and trying again.
