Tickets for Wicked and how to get the best deal

I'm hoping that some of you seasoned veterans can help out - My DD and I want to see Wicked next Saturday at the matinee performance. I'm "watching" a couple of tickets on ebay, but don't really want to bank on that as the auction's not up until Tuesday evening. I've checked on ticketmaster (as directed from the official theatre website), and the only seats they are showing available are in restricted viewing areas (unless I'm happy to pay for highest price tickets at £65, which of course I'd rather not if I can avoid it!)
Theatremonkey.com (which I've heard mention of on here before) directs me to lastminute.com, where I can get either top tier for £62.50 or 2nd tier for £52.50, so slightly cheaper than ticketmaster, but with no notification of where we would sit until we get there. I'm guessing that the best way is to turn up on the day and hope for the best, but as we're coming from "ooop Norf", it's not practical for us to turn up on the off-chance.
Are the many ticket agencies on Leicester Square my best bet? Or is it possible we could get there and end up paying more than the price I can get it for with lastminute.com? Or worse still, not be able to get a seat at all?
Any advice from those of you doing it all the time would be gratefully received!

We had the same problem last month when we went to see Wicked. The ticket prices were not cheap. In the past, the booths had told us that prices for Wicked tickets do not tend to come down in price for Saturdays-so like you, we were booking online.
We found last minute.com to be very good and theatre uk.On both these sites we were able to choose our seats. We ended up paying £36 for middle stalls and great seats. However, that was a Friday evening and were cheaper than a Saturday. Good luck in your search. It's an amazing show.

sorry just to add there was a big cast change last week so all the fans that watch the show about 60 n 70 times will still be drippling in to see the new cast as they see everyone lol.

Hi there
Well you certainly won't pay more than ticketmaster. We went to the booth a couple of weeks ago....didn't turn up til midday and we got tickets easily for billy elliot. Paid £38 each for tickets that had been £60+. Other people were getting tickets easily enough for Wicked but not sure what they were paying. This was the first time i'd used the booths but would certainly do it again...

You don;t get reduced priced tickets from Leicester Square very often for Wicked, espcecially not at a weekend and this close to cast change. They do sell them but not reduced. I've got Legally Blonde, Priscilla, Billy Elliot from there but never Wicked.
You could try dayseating (front row on the day for £25 each) but you have to be there early. The Get Into London Theatre offers have just finished, to be honest I think you are going to end up paying full price wherever you book.
We went for Kidsweek so at least dd's ticket was free.

Thanks for your help guys - unfortunately, great as the front row tickets sound, I'm not actually dedicated enough to be waiting for them at that hour of the morning!!!
I managed to get the ones I had my eye on with ebay. I've paid more than the face value, but not by much, and I couldn't get cheaper ones either on ticketmaster or lastminute.com for this Saturday, so I'm busy justifying my "bargain"!!!
..I've just got to hope they get here on time now!!!
