Well where do i start.... decided to drive to audition as would have meant us having 4 changes if we'd taken the train. thought we'd left with plenty of time but boy was i wrong. must of been a cycling event on as we got caught behind them for what seemed like miles. eventually got passed them and just a couple of miles left to reach our destination when the sat nat decides to play up and there isnt any signal. havent got a clue where were going so having to pull over numerous times to ask directions. finally reach Abacus half an hour late ..... Ds eventually joins other children to take part in audition. ds is then called up to say his nursery rhyme and decides to do a totally different one to the one we'd been learning all week bless him lol.... well apart from the above everything else went ok.... worried now that ive ruined his chances of being taken on. not a good start is it being late for audition.... next time were sticking to the train.... x

I certainly don't think you need to worry about the spontaneous change of nursery rhyme. I think that bodes well actually! It shows that he's got a mind of his own and that it's not you "coaching" him! Fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

Oh stagecoach2007, it does sound as if you had a stressful time of it.

I really wouldn't worry about DS changing his prepared audition piece on the spot either. As pg said - it shows confidence and that he knows his own mind.

DS did the same thing when he did a really important audition for a G & T music scheme. He had prepared 2 pieces for weeks and weeks with his teacher, and 5 minutes before his audition he said "Mum, I really don't feel these pieces show who I really am, so, when I go in, I'm going to ask them if I can drop one of them and just improvise a solo instead!" I was horrified, and didn't think he would actually go through with it, but he did............and he got in!
