Hi Guys

Hope you can help, I don't normally post but have gained a wealth of information from reading your posts, but am now hoping you can give me some advice.
My dd has just been offered her first student film, which they have decided to shoot over the 2 week easter holiday.

I'm just confused if she still needs a license, having read Northamptonshires rules and regualtions I was still confused and emailed them, their reply was to look at their website!! ](*,)

Hoping someone can help out

Many thanks
:D

hi, generally the rules are : if they are getting paid/someone is paying to watch, if they are taking time off school or if the production is being broadcast, therefore theoretically all films should require a licence, however many councils turn a blind eye to student films as they are not 'broadcast' as such, only shown internally. Having said that many student films are entered for festivals now a days.
Sorry, this has probably left you even more confused. Basically the rules are different in each council but are supposed to follow the basic criteria above, however they are open to interpretation and some people read it that all the criteria have to be filled to need a licence!

Thanks Francescamum

Have got the number of the lady that issues them in Northampton so will give her a ring on Monday (I'm told she's very nice) so lets hope its all straightforward. This is my dd's first ever 'work' apart from local theatre productions so hope it goes smoothly and is a good experience as I know there are a lot of different views re student films.

They seem quite organised in that i saw the script previous to audition, there was a choice of audition slot, they are filming around my daughter as she is the only child in it and i already have a shhoting schedule - here's hoping its successful
Thanks :D
