Too Good To Be True?

I applied to an ad on Starnow asking for Musical Theatre bods for an 'upcoming' show to run in London for 20 days. I was sceptical, so I asked for more info especially dates/times. It promises that successful children will be paid £85 per show and £65 per rehearsal!
here's the bit i wasn't keen on:
The audition is tied in with a 'voluntary' workshop. They only give you the time for the workshop, and nowhere are you told how or when to turn up if you only want the audition. The workshop costs £25.
Apparently the show will be in 2012. Still no dates given.
Well we can't make audition anyway as dd is performing in a charity show. But I just wondered what you guys thought about the likelihood of those payments being 'bonafide'?

Hi Igloobabe,
I totally agree with Irishdancer. In the original post on Starnow they asked for applicants to state whether they would like to join in the £25 workshop when applying. I applied to it but told them my DS would not be attending the workshop. When they replied asking him to audition they sent a completely standard reply with the workshop details - there was no option to attend the audition only. I would be very surprised if anyone ends up being paid for this.

Quite a few dubious postings seem to be coming up on Starnow of late - I find myself being very suspicious :/ It does sound like they are after the £25, sadly.

It's a real shame, I feel very let down by Starnow at the moment, we used to get some really good things (though never paid, we have never had a single paid job ever!!!)
but now it all seems to be dodgy films, posts littered with poor grammar and spelling, and dubious companies! Shall all us NAPM starnow members write emails to the management to let our feelings be known - strength in numbers etc?

I have to agree & have now let dd's subscription lapse as I was sick of seeing roles for either teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse, drug addiction etc etc. Do these students not have any original idea's. I for one always shy away from the listings that are poorly spelt
