I've noticed that my DD has been listed on IMDB for her role in the film "Full Firearms". I see there's an opportunity to add her profile but it's not clear how much it costs. Also, as she's only done a couple of things, there's not much to add.

Does anyone know if there's any benefit to having a an IMDB profile? Do casting directors look at it?

CD do look at it to make sure u have been in the film but it costs over £100 to join, if yr dd is in another film it she will get added by some one might take longer than u putting it on but it will go on that is if yr dc has a role in it and not a extra as extras are not credited.

Just out of interest, is it only professional films that are on general release that are allowed on IMDb?

To be honest, I don't know any casting directors or TV producers in the UK who use IMDb as a casting tool. It's just seen as a useful look-up site for reference and general interest. People make a big fuss about their "Starmeters" which are essentially meaningless unless you're in the top 10! I think it may be used more in the US as a casting tool but not over here. Spotlight is the essential one in the UK and much more trustworthy, IMDb is too easy to manipulate and the data is often unreliable as anyone can update it.

Francescasmum, any film can get added now, short films get added automatically via the Withoutabox system when they're submitted to film festivals. Unfortunately, seeing a film listed on IMDb is no longer a guarantee that it's professional or going to have a general release.

Thanks for that Selina2. i got an email form the director of a film dd did at Easter to say she had an entry, it's very basic and doesn't look like the other pages you see when you look up someone!
