My dd was seen for this afew weeks ago-she's 9. The part she read for was Petra. Got it via Agent who had seen her in something else. Lovely casting, great experience, but obviously not for us as we heard nothing further! Good luck to anyone else going!

Wildgingerthing i dont think 16 is too old-i think my dd was far too young!! I think the brief was for actors 12 years and over but we were seen as i said cause of another project. Go for it if atall possible! I cant recall the casting Director im afraid.

So, having heard on the grapevine that this role has gone to Asa Butterfield (despite them officially looking for a 10/12 year old and him being almost 15), there is also news today that the role in the Sally Potter film that had open auditions earlier in the year (1500 people recorded audition tapes and submitted them and 30 were auditioned) has gone to 13 year old Elle Fanning (sister of Dakota, and not English at all obviously!)

The brief originally was for 14+ minimum and to look almost 16.

Just CDs being safe, unfortunately.
It's about securing funding, isn't it ultimately. They get a "name" on board and can then go to the funding people and stand more chance of securing the funding.

But if this is the case (and they must know this from the outset), why bother with the charade of agency auditions, or in the case of the Sally Potter film, open auditions - the cynic in me says it's all about creating buzz.

Plenty of info about the movie, including name of casting director on this website link

http://www.endersansible.com/2011/09/en ... r-and.html

Cd is based in USA but it seems like they are casting all over the place. DS went on tape a few weeks ago for Dink.

Thanks geordiegirl.
Just out of interest, you have an agent, right?
I don't think I could contact the CD without one :(
many thanks & good luck to all x
