What should a CV for a child look like?

I think it might be useful to put together a CV for my DD, age 9. Can anyone direct me to a website or reference for what a performing childs CV should look like and include? She doesn't have any paid experience yet, mostly local theatre, singing performances, lessons and activities, and a number of "almost got the parts". I know I won't include those  She's loves performing and even loves auditioning so she's desperate for more opportunities. I'm starting to sense her discouragement about the lack of auditions so I want to do what I can to help her and we're also looking at changing agents. I really like her current agents but she's only been on about 6 auditions/castings in a year and a half. She's done really well at a few big auditions but has yet to "get the part". Any advice on CV's for young children would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Josmum.
Hope all is well and a Happy New Year to you both.. Is J on Spotlight? You can print a CV off from a Spotlight profile if you need to.

I would say if you were to create your own document you should put all her details such as name, contacts, current height, age, DOB, hair colour, hair length etc at the top with a smallish head shot. Divide her credits into catagories if there are quite a few such as stage, film & TV, photographic and list each one in date order starting with the most recent. Put a skills section at the bottom along with vocal range, training and any exams or grades in dancing/LAMDA/music.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. I have just gone into business with as an agent for children and Young Performers and we are opening the books again in March. We're now Mad Fish Management. It's all rather exciting. Workshop auditions on March 10th with a West End resident director.

Emi's Mum! Congratulations on going into business as an agent! You've got a very Happy New Year ahead of you...and a lot of work I'm sure:) You're March 10 workshop audition sounds great but Jo has rehearsals with her dance school for their show...very strict about attendance. I'll let you know how we get on with the CV and keep an eye out for your future audition workshops.

Thanks for all the advice. I've always been pretty good at resumes but I've never had to do one for a child so I'll just give it a go. She has a Spotlight profile that I've never seen before although I've asked her agents a few times. They say it's agents only access and if there's anything new I should just tell them. I really would like to know how she's represented on spotlight but I think I've bugged them enough about it.

Best to you in this New Year

Josmum :D

Ahhh I'm sure you'll get one together just fine. You still have my email address if you need anything....just bob it over and I can have a look if needed. Don't worry about the workshop in March maybe we can see Jo some other time you can make it...and good luck with the dance show.
Shame you cannot see the Spotlight page. They should give you the viewing PIN really if not the update PIN but it is down to the individual agent. Let me know if you need any help x

Hi Emi's mum
I have heard of your new agency from someone who's DD is with you or knows of you. Regarding the workshop on March 10th, I think my DD would love to attend, we are based in South East, can you give more info on it,ie: location, times and cost. Thanks

If you go to:

There's advice about putting a CV together and an example that you can 'borrow'. There's more to this site than the forums!

Good luck
