RADA summer school

I have been thinking about applying to a course at RADA this summer. The course I am thinking of applying to does not require audition, just a short personal statement.

Should I mention that I have professional experience in this considering it is a theater course and all my professional experience is in film and commercials?

Additionally, should I mention that I have taken LAMDA grades considering LAMDA and RADA are rival institutions?

Many Thanks :D

I would not worry about what to put - the fact that you don't have to audition tells me they are not concerned about previous experince.

I think these courses are pretty much allocated on a first come, first served basis, so I wouldn't worry too much. FWIW I would mention your LAMDA grades but not your professional experience.
Hope you get in!

the summer school (which is short course) at RADA is first come first serve, but you need to provide a reference and reason why you want to do the course - but for the termly Saturday classes for the Rada Youth Group you need to audition.

Thanks so much. Also does anyone know if I would be able to put this on my CV as part of my training?

I think it depends on what you were applying for. For film/tv, I don't think it would matter. For a theatre role, might make you more interesting!

Hi ruby

You can certainly include it on your CV but CDs will not regard it in the same light as training on an accredited course (I´m sure you realise that :) ).

If I were you, I would include it under "workshops attended" or something like that. If you claim it as "training" (i.e. you put it at the top of your CV) I think CDs would think that you were trying to use a RADA summer school as if it were in the same league as the accredited 3 year course. I know you are not doing this, but believe me I have seen plenty of CVs where people have put "trained at RADA" when they meant that they had attended a summer school. It´s that kind of embellishment that makes someone looking at your CV question the validity of all the credits on your CV. CDs do check this kind of thing out.

I agree with pg, it is a summer school, and more than one day at RADA - however, on joining agents my dd was told that 'workshops' attended should not be included on a c.v. from the age of young performer (over 16s) - only professional experience, but if you have an agent ruby95, I'd run it by them too, to get a better idea ?
For applications forms for auditions for full time courses eg. BA Acting courses, it's always good to put things like Summer Schools courses at RADA on the form, it shows your commitment and level of expereince/training to date.
