Youth Music Theatre/ Representation

hello all, this is my first post here!
I'm a 16 year old girl, triple threat, and I've only been involved in amateur productions so far, despite being represented by Jigsaw Agency when I was younger. I've recently been successful in auditioning for Youth Music Theatre UK and offered a part in a production this summer. I was wondering if there are any agencies which are particularly favourable towards YMT or suchlike, or talented performers with limited experience? Thanks a lot!

I think being part of YMT will enhance your CV (and give you great experience) BUT the opportunities for professional MT work for 16 year olds are few and far between. Most professional MT performers will be drama school graduates. It therefore follows that your MT credentials at 16 are unlikely to be of particular interest to agents as they are unlikely to earn any money from commission from MT roles (as there are not many professional roles available for someone your age). That doesn't mean that an agent won't take you on - there is other work out there that you might be suitable for. Probably the best thing you can do is to apply to a few and see what happens - and invite them (and CDs) to the YMT show.
Are you the one in the striped shorts and with the darkest hair in the video? (Lovely video

)
You look young - so that is a very big plus for approaching agents! Make sure you select a photo that emphasises a youthful look.

Thanks for your reply- yes, I've found there's almost an unspoken rule against teenage performers at the west end! However, I am really interested in working in other genres, and if I am offered representation I wouldn't expect any musical theatre work at all; I just consider MT to be my strongest point. I've applied to a few, to no avail as this was before my YMT audition and my CV isn't as strong as others'. However, I'm planning to go all out with applying this summer (after my gcses), and I'll definitely take your advice on inviting some to see the show!
Yes, I am the dark haired one- thanks, we put a lot of effort into making the video

I do think I'm young looking (and certainly short), thanks a lot for your picture advice!
