Headshots for Agencies

Hi,
I'm getting some 10x8 prints made to send in with postal submissions to agencies. The headshot files I were sent by the photographer were in colour, but now researching I'm seeing conflicting articles and opinions on sending black & white headshots vs colour. In many articles online it says to now send colour headshots to agents and steer away from black and white, but in brilliant books such as 'An Actors Guide to Getting Work', it says the opposite. I feel silly asking but when I applied to my previous agency I'd never had a headshot taken and so just emailed a picture of me!
So, in short, when you applied to your agencies, what did you send - or does it not even matter?
