Benefits of pre drama-school training - Julie Atherton

Hi,
I've seen a lot of threads talking about auditions to drama schools and what people may be looking for.
For all those sending their kids to professional workshops and pre-drama school training, that's a fantastic 'leg-up'
West End leading actress Julie Atherton talked to us after her 'acting through song' workshop at Forecast about the overall benefits of engaging in pre-drama school training.
Her full interview is here, and is quite specific to our own Saturday school, but skip to 1:56 for when she talks more generally about benefits of these kind of programmes.

I just thought it could be interesting for some parents to hear the thoughts of a leading professional in the field.
So if your kids are doing West End workshops, learning from people who have walked in their shoes and made it, taking extra-curricular training and audition mentoring, they're great things to be doing (whilst admittedly not crucial - Julie made it without that kind of guidance)
Having this forum is also super helpful - a place for advice and experiences to be shared. It's gold-dust.
Wishing all those auditioning all the very best - and remember first go should be treated as a learning experience as well as an opportunity to gain entry to chosen courses.
