Dear all
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any street dance or contemporary dance classes in the Manchester/Stockport area. I've been looking on the internet, but without really knowing what I'm searching for!

DS is 10 and has been doing ballet, tap and modern for the last couple of years. He now wants to expand his repertoire (I think the BBC's Young Dancer of the Year competition may have had something to do with this!) hence the request. Thanks all in advance for any guidance.

Search for the Centres of Advanced Training (CAT Schemes). There is one at the Lowry in Salford and the schemes are excellent & very highly regarded. There are a number around the country and the standard of training is really high. They usually audition for the schemes around this time of year.

If you qualify, you will also get funding help under the Government MDS (Music and Dance scheme).

Pretty sure starting age for CAT at The Lowry is 11 but worth enquiring.

No personal experience but DD knows several dancers who really liked their training at Shockout Academy in Manchester - they run a Saturday programme for 11 years plus as well as vocational 16+ courses
